Pharmacological Potentials of Omega 3 Fatty Acid in Reduction of Atrial Fibrillation

چکیده
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of arrhythmia in general population with a prevalence that reaches one third patients arterial hypertension, diabetic and other risk factors. In atrial fibrillation, regular impulses produced by sinus node for normal heart beat are overwhelmed rapid electrical discharges atria adjacent parts pulmonary veins. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), namely eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) docosahexaenoic (DHA) permanent subjects interest relation to protection cardiovascular health prevention incidence both ventricular arrhythmias. It has been proposed possess anti-inflammatory properties can inhibit arrhythmogenic mechanisms. Potential Targets PUFAs Relevant Arrhythmias Prevention direct inhibition sarcolemmal ion channels & restoring cardiac connexion channels. Intake omega-3 significantly prevents occurrence AF. The purpose this review focus on novel cellular molecular effects PUFAs, context mechanisms factors involved development fibrillation.

Effect of Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Supplementation in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained atrial arrhythmia conferring a higher morbidity and mortality. Despite the increasing incidence of AF; available therapies are far from perfect. Dietary fish oils, containing omega 3 fatty acids, also called polyunsaturated fatty acid [PUFA] have demonstrated beneficial electrophysiological, autonomic and anti-inflammatory effects on both at...
متن کاملOmega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Supplementation: Mechanism and Current Evidence in Atrial Fibrillation.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia and is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. Available pharmacologic antiarrhythmic therapies are often ineffective in preventing the recurrence of AF, possibly because these drugs target a single pathophysiological mechanism. Given their beneficial effects on ventricular arrhythmias, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (...

OBJECTIVE To assess if patients treated with omega-3(n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAS) had lower procedural failure rates compared to an untreated population. METHODS AND RESULTS From January 2004 to 2007, 1500 PVAI patients underwent catheter ablation. Two hundred and eighty five (19%) patients were treated with PUFAs. These patients were matched in a nested case controlled analysis. ...

15 صفحه اولThe Current Role of Omega-3 Fatty Acids in the Management of Atrial Fibrillation
BACKGROUND The main dietary source of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA) is fish, which contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). In the present manuscript, we aimed to review the current evidence regarding the clinical role of n-3 PUFA in the prevention of atrial fibrillation (AF) and the possible underlying mechanisms. METHODS A literature search based...
